I recently spoke with director Andy Serkis, who also voices Mr. Jones, Old Major and Rooster, along with Kathleen Turner, the voice of Benjamin, about the new animated adaptation of the f George Orwell classic,'Animal Farm' from Angel Studios, arriving Friday, May 1, 2026. Funny enough, my conversation with Turner came the same morning I had been talking with a friend about her iconic role as Jessica Rabbit, making the interview feel oddly full circle.

This newanimated adaptation of 'Animal Farm' brings a fresh perspective porchfest somerville to the classic allegory, including the introduction of a brand new character named Lucky voiced by 'Stranger Things' star Gaten Matarazzo, created specifically for this version to help guide younger audiences through the storys themes that now blend the feat of communism with unchecked greed of capitalism. Serkis leans into a darker but emotionally grounded tone while still making the film accessible and visually engaging for all ages.

The cast is stacked, with standout performances across the board, including Glenn Close, who takes on the role of Freida Pilkington with a sharp and memorable edge.
