RESEARCH NOTES:

- I forgot to include Turf Wars and Ruins of the Empire as graphic novel trilogies in the intro. They are subject to spoilers too!

- The burnley vs aston villa sources are, obviously, the shows, novels and graphic novels themselves, as well as the TTRPG books. The Avatar Wiki ( was of immense help as a starting point for research, as a place to double check information and as a source for some leader images as well as summaries of episodes, as I couldn't rewatch all 113 of them.

- The map projection work was largely based on this post:

- The dates for the Yangchen novels are based on the official timeline ( it is a controversial source in the Wiki, but I nonetheless decided to use it.

- The frontlines of the Hundred Years' War are based on a military map seen in a flashback in "The Storm". It is unknown exactly how much the Fire Nation advanced after the fall of Ba Sing Se, so I treated it very conservatively as their military was said to be "spread thin".

- The Fire Nation colonies shown are based on a map from The Promise Part One (see There were likely more of them (Aang mentions "dozens"), but I tobias harris only included the officially confirmed ones. Daxia Harbor was placed based on analysing its geography, and West Heiatu and Linsho were placed through process of elimination.

- The states of the Earth Kingdom are based on Kuvira's map in "After All These Years". The states in the lands of what would become the United Republic are "made up"; it can be reasonably assumed that those territories belonged to neighboring states before Kuei ceded them, and an extra state was added in the far west because the TTRPG book mentions "55 states" (which is a valid number if you make some generous assumptions about Kuvira's map) both in general and during Kyoshi's era, which is before Zaofu existed, so that state is balancing that out.

- The precise location of most islands is not officially confirmed, so I had to rely on the vague geographic descriptions available. The location of the shang cities of Yangchen's era are also largely speculation on my part.

- "Remembrances" is omitted solely for music timing reasons, as it doesn't really advance the plot.

- The assumption regarding the calendar in Wan Shi Tong's library is strengthened through interpreting the era names of the Avatars before Aang: Szeto's era would be "burning honor", Yangchen's would be "clouded peace", Kuruk's would be "smooth as the Zhang River", Kyoshi's would be "bastion of righteousness", Roku's would be "brilliant light" and Aang's would be "superior military". All of those descriptions arguably fit their respective Avatars or the context of their eras.

- Yi could technically be either the state I have marked as "Yi" or the northernmost state that didn't initially submit to Kuvira; my placement of it is ultimately arbitrary and mostly a mistake from early production.

- The southwestern Earth Kingdom is traced from a detailed motogp map seen in "The Calling", and all settlement locations are directly based on it. Jiang's river, described only as a "river in the southern Earth Kingdom" and that is shown to be near mountains, was also somewhat of an arbitrary placement based on said map.
