Indianapolis Just a day after the Chicago Sky announced that star rookie Angel Reese suffered a season-ending wrist injury, fellow WNBA rookie Caitlin Clark expressed her deep sympathy over the news.
In a pregame press conference before the Indiana Fever's matchup against the Atlanta Dream, Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, shared her thoughts on the unfortunate turn of events. Its obviously, definitely sad, Clark said. Anytime you thiago agustn tirante see anybody go down with an injury, especially someone you came into the league with, its tough. Whether its Cam , Angel, investment or anyone else, you want to see them finish the season. Angel especially shes had an amazing, historic year.
Clark went on to emphasize the significance of Reese's presence in the league. Shes done some incredible things. Her motor is unmatched, possibly the best in the league. She doesnt stop working, she said. Congratulations to her for an amazing season. Shes come into the WNBA and continued doing what shes done well her entire career. Its definitely devastating. Thats never what you want to see happen to a player.
Both Clark and Reese, who was the seventh pick in the 2024 draft, have been standout performers in their rookie campaigns, with Clark emerging as the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award. Their historic seasons have brought fresh energy to the WNBA, and Reeses injury marks a significant loss to the league.
Clark acknowledged that injuries are an unfortunate reality of the game, but they remain painful for everyone involved.
