Mortgage Market at a glance. The daily news that affects mortgage interest rates. Today is Thursday, July 10th. It’s clear that Kevin Warsh, the new Fed Chair means business when it comes to bringing needed change to methods and leadership at the FED. He has chosen leaders for his 5 task forces that will bring new insight and methodology to areas like communication, data, balance sheet policy, productivity and jobs, and inflation framework. It’s a known fact that old ways and methods of collecting data have resulted in faulty and inaccurate information. As a result we get monthly jobs and inflation numbers that aren’t even close to reality. The bond market and mortgage rates are affected by these erroneous headline numbers which end up being revised over the next month or two after it’s too late. These changes at the FED will hopefully bring policy changes and bond market movement that is closer to reality. All eyes are on the war and the future price of oil. Mortgage rates are slightly better than yesterday, but not by much. Are you curious to see how much home you could afford based on your current income?
