And they thrived. 🐣🐣 Day 10 at Big Bear Valley. Jackie and Shadow stepped out for a bit leaving their two growing chicks in the sunshine to explore the world from the most famous nest in California. And then a sparrow showed up. This tiny bird — completely unbothered by the fact that it just walked up to two baby bald eagles — came right over to say hello. And the chicks? They were absolutely beside themselves with excitement. Watch what happens next. Both chicks start fluttering their tiny wings. Little bursts of movement — instinct waking up inside them for the very first time. At Day 9 those wing flutters are the earliest sign of something extraordinary that is coming. These chicks are starting to figure out what those wings are for. 🌲🦅 A sparrow. Two excited fluff balls. First wing flutters. A beautiful sunny day at 7,000 feet. In a few weeks these chicks will be apex predators of the sky. Today a tiny sparrow walked up and they lost their minds with excitement.
