Seniors urged to review Medicare plans: Clear Spring contract ends Jan. 1 [6R8PRK6cUMd]
There is a big change coming for certain Medicare users that could impact getting your coverage. From Oct. 15-Dec. 7, there is open enrollment for Medicare Part D for seniors to decide on their plans, but Clear Spring Health Care users will not have a plan come 2025. "Several of our area residents have, and about 3 or 4 weeks ago, they got a solicitation from Clear Spring that said your premium next year is going down,” said JJ Bernabei, pharmacist, Tri-State Medical. “No worries, you don’t have to do anything, and you will have coverage." But that is quite the opposite of what is happening for The Clear Spring Medicare Plan, as the Center for Medicare gave notice to Clear Spring of its termination. The government says Clear Spring failed to substantially carry out its contract. "That plan is being sanctioned by Medicare,” Bernabei said. “They absolutely will not have coverage January 1st. They will be getting letters this week and next week." Because of the abrupt ending, patients have until February to sign up, but if they want coverage for Jan.1, they must sign up before Dec. 31.
