The biggest cigarette crowd in UTS history packed into Arena de Nimes on Friday to see two-time champion Andrey Rublo Rublev defeat Ben The Mountain Shelton by three quarters to one and secure his place in the semi-final of Bastide Medical UTS Nimes.

8,000 fans cheered as Rublev recovered from a slow start to emerge uf victorious, 18-11, 20-7, 11-14, 19-7 and benefited from new coach Marat Safin in his corner, surprisingly using a lot of serve-and-volley to good effect.

Shelton played his final bonus card with thirty seconds remaining in a desperate effort to close the gap, but Rublo was once more the sharper player. Indeed, Rublev also played four of his bonus cards to his own advantage.

- Timed matches : each match lasting between 40 and 50 minutes each

- Matches divided into 8-minute quarters, not sets

- First to win three quarters wins

- 15-second shot clock between points

- No second serve

- Players can be coached from the bench at all times.

- Coaches micd up during the matches and players micd up during changeovers

- Fans can be as loud as they want during - and between - points, no more silence!

- Players can choose a 3-point bonus card to use during the match, e.g., next point counts for three points

- If two quarters each, a sudden death fifth quarter - with the goal of winning two consecutive points - will be played
