Via NBC San Francisco 49ers Rookie Ricky Pearsall Survives Robbery Attempt, Thanks to Quick-Thinking SF Officer @JeffSkverskyYouTube San Francisco Police Sgt. Joelle Harrell is being hailed as a hero after she swiftly responded to the scene where 49ers rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot during an attempted robbery in Union Square on Saturday. Harrell, who was nearby when she heard gunfire, immediately rushed to the scene and provided critical first aid to Pearsall, who was bleeding from his head and chest. "I heard the [clap, clap], and the noise here echoes," Harrell recounted, describing the moment she realized what had happened. Without hesitation, she and another officer made their way toward the sound of the gunfire, where they found Pearsall injured. Using her hands to cover Pearsall’s wounds, Harrell focused on keeping him calm. "I wanted him to be calm," she said. "I take off my hat because I wanted to make eye contact with him. I wanted him to hear me. I said to him, 'Listen, look at me. I know you don't know me, but I want you to trust me, it's not your time.'" Pearsall, who was shot in the chest, managed to walk to a stretcher before being rushed to the hospital. He was released from the hospital on Sunday, just one day after the terrifying incident. The suspect, a 17-year-old from Tracy, was apprehended by police within minutes. According to Police Chief Bill Scott, the rapid response was due to Union Square being one of the most heavily patrolled areas in the city. "The message that we want people to know is the narrative that they can come here, get away with things and walk away, that day is over," Scott stated. Sgt. Harrell, who returned to her beat at Union Square after the shooting, hasn’t been able to communicate with Pearsall since he was taken to the hospital. However, she expressed her relief and gratitude for his survival, saying, "Thank you for being strong. Thank you for what you do. Thank you for listening." Pearsall has since been placed on the non-football injury list by the 49ers as he continues to recover. **#49ers #SanFrancisco #RickyPearsall #UnionSquare #SFPD #HeroicActions #RobberyAttempt #NFL**
