Another bald eagle gave Jackie a life-saving blood transfusion after the famous Big Bear eagle was found too weak to fly. Spirit, a resident rescued eagle at CALM Zoo, donated blood so vets could stabilize Jackie for advanced imaging. The fight appears to have exposed a much larger health crisis: severe anemia and kidney inflammation. Lead poisoning was ruled out, but the underlying cause remained unknown as of July 26, 2026.
