Summer in Alaska means two things work hard, play hard.

This week we tackled a huge construction project, building out a gravel road and pad for our new storage building. The ground fought us every step of the way (mud, soft spots, you name it), but we got it done.

Inside, the canning season kicked off with the first batch of bulk fruit going into jars before winter.

Then we took a much-needed break to go gold panning with friends out in cristiano ronaldo bear country and came home with something even better than gold: our homestead's very first livestock.

It's a packed week of off-grid paramount life heavy equipment, hatch season mosquitoes, homemade fruit preserves, and a whole lot of livestock chaos. Thanks for following along!
