This marks the third attack on this facility since early 2025. Satellite comparisons also indicate a successful drone strike on a defense plant in Cheboksary, nearly 1,000 km from the Ukrainian border. Despite low image resolution, visible roof fires confirm damage when contrasted with archival photos. Ukraine’s General Staff reported at least two UAV strikes on the plant’s premises during the night of June 9, igniting a large blaze. This factory is a crucial node in Russia’s military-industrial network: it manufactures navigation and communications gear, including components for UAV control systems and guidance modules for Iskander-M and Kalibr missiles. It also supports submarine electronics and high-precision systems for both energy and military sectors. Production at this site reportedly increased more than 100-fold in 2024.
