While we are aware that Jackie never left the territory, we did miss her on the livestream cameras. So we were all happy to see Jackie after a few days out of camera view. There are several theories about why she was away, which we mention in the video. When we reached out for comment, Jackie declined, so I guess we’ll never know where she was for sure. But others tell us that she is defending the area from sub-adult bald eagles who are passing through. After Jackie and Shadow perched on Twin Pines together, Shadow departed to get Jackie a welcome home fish. She was very grateful and enjoyed it mostly to herself, even when Sandy and Luna came home expecting to get some (Luna did in the end). Life lessons were taught. But ever the doting father, Shadow brought a second fish, which Luna happily scarfed down. With this feesh, Shadow had fed the entire family today. Well, of course he had. What a gift to see the entire family on the nest together. It was a good day in Big Bear Valley.
