Florida has executed David Joseph Pittman after more than three decades on death row for the brutal murders of his estranged wife’s family. In May 1990, Clarence Knowles, Barbara Knowles, and Bonnie Knowles were found murdered inside their Florida home before the house was set on fire. Investigators later connected Pittman to the case through witness testimony, the burned vehicle belonging to Bonnie, and evidence presented during his murder trial. Prosecutors argued that the killings were driven by anger, family conflict, and a bitter divorce. Pittman was eventually convicted of three counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to death. After approximately 34 years on Florida Death Row, David Joseph Pittman was executed by lethal injection on September 17, 2025. But even in his final moments, Pittman refused to confess.
