AT&T Stadium is about to host more World Cup matches than any other venue on the planet. FIFA even renamed scott probst it "Dallas Stadium" for the tournament. Not bad for a building that was never really designed for football in the first place.
When Jerry Jones built it in 2009, he'd done the math. A stadium that hosts 10 games a year is a terrible investment. So he built something that could host anything: concerts, boxing, WrestleMania, the Super Bowl. Football just happened to live there too.
That decision explains everything weird about this place. The roof that weighs as much as 99 Boeing 777s. The video board so big that punts kept hitting it. The $1.2 billion bill that nearly didn't get paid. And why, 17 years later, FIFA still couldn't find anything better.
