Republican State Representative Ashley Hinson mostly stayed out of the Iowa House chamber as legislators debated late into the evening on June 13, 2020, the night before they adjourned for the year. She came out to vote, then returned to a back room where she would be unavailable to take public questions from colleagues.
In this clip, you can see Hinson emerging to vote for an amendment she had co-sponsored, which added language requiring a 24-hour waiting period before all abortions to an unrelated bill. Hinson came into the ticket master chamber, held her finger up to indicate a yes vote, and left immediately after the speaker announced her vote.
