Bank Rate Decision: 3.75% Held, But 3 Members Voted Higher bankofengland mortgages rates [xmnNP2ZTwiQ]
The Bank of England held Bank Rate at 3.75% on 30 July — but three of the nine MPC members voted for a rise to 4%. The hawkish minority has grown at every meeting since March: 9–0, then 8–1, then 7–2, now 6–3. Inflation is 2.6% today. The Bank expects it above 3% by the autumn as energy costs feed through into food and everything else. What a rise would cost: +0.25% adds roughly £450 a year on a £250,000 mortgage over 25 years. +0.50% adds around £900. That affects you on a tracker, on a standard variable rate, or when your fix ends — not while you're mid-fix. Full breakdown, including what it means for every mortgage scenario on our Substack.
