On Thursday, Reddit experienced problems that left users unable to reach the website. Around 5 p.m. EDT, the website Down Detector had received more than 800 reports of users experiencing problems and when Newsweek attempted to access the site, the message, “Sorry, for some reason reddit can’t be reached” was displayed. Users commenting on Down Detector complained that they were unable to see certain content, including pictures of cats, and one user said they thought they were banned from the site until they noticed others were having issues. “The new reddit software is seriously broken,” one user wrote on Down Detector. “The interface is constantly freezing and glitching and now the site goes down once a week.” Reddit gives users a constant feed of content from the internet, along with the ability to comment and engage in discussions about certain topics.
