Alaska has some of the most breathtaking landscapes on Earth, but what about its cities?

In this video, I take a deep dive into five Alaskan cities that left me completely baffled: Juneau, Unalaska, Wasilla, Anchorage, and Fairbanks. From endless surface parking lots and suburban sprawl to isolated settlements and missed opportunities for great urban design, we'll explore why many of Alaska's cities developed the way they did.. and whether they could have looked very different.

Along the way, I compare Alaska's urban development with cities in Norway, Finland, and elsewhere around the world to ask an important question: Why do places with similar geography often end up with completely different west ham vs arsenal city layouts?
