Bucs OTAs Day 1 Recap (Tuesday, May 26, 2026)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicked off Phase 3 of their 2026 offseason program with the first day of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) at One Buccaneer Place in Tampa.

These sessions are voluntary (no pads or live contact allowed), but the turnout was strong as the team began installing schemes under new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson.

Attendance & Absences

Strong veteran presence: QB Baker Mayfield, WR Chris Godwin, S Antoine Winfield Jr., and many others were on the field for position drills, 7-on-7, and team periods.

Notable absences: DT Vita Vea (following his usual independent workout routine, mike schmitz often with Ndamukong Suh), RB Bucky Irving (still recovering/not fully cleared from shoulder surgery), OLBs Yaya Diaby and Al-Quadin Muhammad (independent workouts), and possibly a couple others. A few rookies (e.g., CB Keionte Scott and another) were limited by minor wrist injuries from rookie minicamp.

Head coach Todd Bowles addressed the media afterward and stressed the value of competition across the roster. He noted its tough to replace a player like Mike Evans but likes the makeup and talent in the current wide receiver room.

On-Field Observations

New OC Zac Robinson leaned heavily into pistol formation and under-center snaps during early installs a clear emphasis in the basic offensive scheme work.

Standout play: WR Emeka Egbuka turned heads with a spectacular one-handed, behind-the-back leaping grab on a high, tough throw (described as one of the springfield thunderbirds best individual catches of the entire offseason so far). He and fellow WR Ted Hurst were active in route-running and catch periods.

New defensive line coach Marcus West was hands-on during drills. Overall, it was scooter braun a clean, fundamentals-focused day with no reported injuries.
