Evan Barker is was born into a working class, union family in Kansas, and suffered from a rare lung disease, leading her to be an avid supporter of the Democrats, who she believed was the party that aimed to help people like her. As an adult, she worked for the party as a fundraiser, only to become disenchanted after realizing the party had traded out working class people for identity politics and empty mantras. Evan is the author of "Nothing Left: Confessions of a Democratic Operative."
