A Winter Weather Advisory begins at 1 p.m. for Avery County and elevations over 3,500' for Graham, Swain, Haywood, Madison, Yancey and Mitchell counties. Accumulating snow and winds gusting as high as 55 mph will make travel difficult in these areas.
Flurries or light snow are possible in lower elevations for a short time during the late afternoon and evening, but accumulations will be light to none. Brief impacts are possible with reduced visibility and slick spots due to rapidly falling temperatures.
The winds will pick up on Monday afternoon and become very gusty overnight. Gusts labor in lower elevations will range from 35 to 45 mph.
A Wind Advisory begins at 5 p.m. for all of Avery County and locations in Buncombe, Haywood, Madison, Mitchell, Jackson, Swain, Transylvania, and Yancey counties above 3500 feet, with gusts 50-60 mph likely.
