SANDYS MORNING ADVENTURES HANGING OUT ON THE ROCKS! Shadow Keeping Watch Big Bear FOBBVCAM 6.30.26 [jttK0600dXY]
This morning Shadow has been perched on the Simba Tree & Twin Pines as he keeps watch over Sandy & Luna. There is a swoosh of wings flapping as Sandy is on the move. The cam ops find her on the rocks below the Headless Tree. Sandy perches comfortably on the rocks and she moves around with ease. I think Sandy was waiting in this spot like she did yesterday when Jackie brought her a fish. After awhile Sandy flies off and out of view. Shadow however, remained perches on the Twin Pines to keep watch where his fledglings fly off to. Jackie brought a fish to the nest 11:16am & swallowed in one gulp - then went to the front porch for a while before departing. Shadow also came to the nest at 12:34pm for a short stay. Sandy is starting to get more practice flying now & that will increase her strength in her pectoral muscles that will help propel her up higher and fly faster in the coming days! Also females are larger & it takes more strength to fly than the lighter males. It is much more difficult for an young eagle to fly from the ground upward like in Sandy's position. There is no momentum or lift which Luna has from flying from high tree to high tree. Sandy is a warrior princess after overcoming these rough past couple of days & she will continue to gain skill & strength. Thank you for watching! Thank you for watching!
