Featuring over 28 total storms with more than $150 billion in damages, the season changed everything in the basin and also lives. Hurricanes Dennis, Emily, Katrina, Rita, Stan and Wilma all wrought havoc across the basin. With the year having 4 storms above 160mph, 2005 is the only season to not only feature more than 2 category 5 storms, but also 2 sub-900mb storms (Rita and Wilma). Accumulated Cyclone Energy reached above 250 for the first time since 1933, and the second highest on record in the basin. In fact, the named storm margin at the time was so high, it even eclipsed the western pacific- the most active basin globally- to become the most active basin of 2005 across the world, and only behind ACE (with the Western Pacific having more).

Ever since, the Atlantic remained consistent despite later anomalous storms (Joaquin), and most errors have arkansas baseball been corrected. This was put to the test again william paul 15 years later, and fortunately, despite 2020 being even more active, had significantly less deaths than 2005.
