6 Day Solo Float Trip- 140 Miles on Michigans Au Sable River [Sx7VOuIv7nB]

I spent 6 days canoeing, camping, and fishing over 140 miles down Michigan’s legendary Au Sable River. This solo float trip started near the headwaters, where the river was narrow, tight, brushy, and barely wide enough to paddle a canoe. From there, I followed the Au Sable across northern Michigan, through quiet forest, fast water, towns, reservoirs, dams, portages, long paddling days, campfire nights, and eventually all the way to Lake Huron. Along the way I camped on the river, cooked meals over the fire, fly fished for trout, caught fish for dinner, paddled through storms, dealt with fatigue, and shared the adventure with my dog Ollie. This was one of the most challenging and rewarding solo canoe trips I’ve ever done.
