FOX 17 News is in a Code Red Weather Alert this week for dangerous heat. An extreme heat advisory is in effect for most of Middle Tennessee and all of Southern Kentucky through Thursday. The high temperature Tuesday was 98 degrees, making it the hottest day so far this year. High temperatures will be even hotter Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s through at least Friday, July 3. Heat index values will reach as high as 110 each afternoon. The forecast shows an increase in storm chances Thursday into the weekend. Overnight temperatures will only drop to the upper 70s and low 80s, offering little relief for anyone without cooling or hydration. The weather pattern will shift slightly heading into the holiday weekend. Highs will dip to the low to mid 90s for the Fourth of July, but heat index values will still hover in the low 100s. _______________ Follow! Like! Share! Subscribe!
