Tonight the St. Louis Cardinals (42-36) open up a three game weekend series against the Miami Marlins (42-39). With the rain out last night that postponed the final game against Arizona, the Redbirds enter tonight's action having dropped two in a row. Going for the Cardinals on an extra day of rest this evening is RHP Kyle Leahy (5-4, 4.63 ERA), who does not come into tonight's start with anything resembling positive momentum. In his three previous starts in the month of June, Leahy is 0-3, with an ERA of 6.00 over 15.0 IP. He has surrendered 20 hits over those 15.0 IP. The fact is that by any fair measure, Kyle Leahy's job hangs by a thread - save for the fact that there aren't many suitors to adequately replace him. Yet at the rate Leahy is going, should the Cardinals return to a true 5-man rotation, RHP Hunter Dobbins is no question the better option if it comes down to it. On the hill for the Marlins tonight is RHP Max Meyers (8-0, 2.80 ERA), who by any fair measure is having an outstanding 2026 campaign for Miami. With very few exceptions so far this year, Meyers has given the Marlins not merely consistent length in his starts, but high quality length at that. In the month of June alone over four starts, Meyers is 3-0 over a span of 23.1 IP, 9 BB, 28 K, and an ERA of 2.31. Long story short, Max Meyers may well prove a legitimate challenge this evening for the Cardinals offense. Can Michael McGreevy answer the call for a very strong outing tonight against the Marlins?
