BBC takes LEGAL ACTION over Donald Trumps $10bn lawsuit [zWaINTtCRPG]
The BBC will take legal steps to have Donald Trump's $10bn defamation lawsuit dismissed, court documents have said. The lawsuit stems from a Panorama programme edit that aired in 2024, which was edited to give the impression Trump had encouraged his supporters to storm the Capitol building in 2021. The episode edited together segments of the US President's speech from January 6, 2021 which suggested that he encouraged his supporters to storm the Capitol building. BBC's edit had Mr Trump say: “We’re going to walk down to the Capitol… and I’ll be there with you. And we fight. We fight like hell.” Panorama and the BBC have faced intense criticism over the edit with BBC Director General Tim Davie resigning from his position as a result of the blowback in November 2025.
