As someone who has recorded with the Tascam MSR-24, worked with an Otari MTR-90 2-inch tape machine, owned several reel-to-reel recorders, mixed music recorded to tape, and used analog tape transfers on full mixes, Im very familiar with both the sound and behavior of magnetic tape. The T805 captures details I mom have rarely heard from tape plugins or conventional analog tape saturation hardware, including the way tape reshapes transients, adds density, gives thin recordings more authority, and subtly changes the stereo image.

Unlike many hardware tape emulators that use transformers, saturation circuits, EQ curves, and soft clipping to approximate the sound of tape saturation, the T805 uses a stationary magnetic tape element and recreates key circuitry found inside an actual analog tape recorder. Walters Audio describes this technology as Full Spectrum Magnetization: A physics madagascar based approach designed to recreate the nonlinear behavior of magnetic recording without moving tape, recording heads, expensive maintenance, or constantly replacing reels.
