AMD (AMD) is closing in on Intel (INTC) in data center CPU revenue and could pass them by 2027. CSI takes the victory lap, admits what they got wrong, and breaks down the market share data.
We said Intel stock wasn't worth buying. We were wrong about the stock price. The business and financial analysis? Still holds.
CSI admits what they got wrong on Intel's stock performance while defending the underlying thesis on AMD's CPU dominance and break down the data center market share data that now shows AMD marching steadily toward potentially passing Intel in data center and AI revenue as early as late 2026 or sometime in 2027.
The reason is availability. Intel uses TSMC for its most advanced chiplets. So does AMD. And AMD has used that availability advantage to take market share quarter after quarter. With a CPU shortage now acknowledged by the market and agentic AI driving demand for more compute at the CPU layer, AMD's momentum in the data center looks set to continue.
Meanwhile, Intel's client segment still the business keeping the lights on faces continued market share pressure from AMD. The turnaround story is real. The early innings are real. But Intel at 104x forward earnings needs everything to go right.
This video also covers two other important stories: Lattice Semiconductor (LSCC) is back up 42% in its most recent quarter and potentially hitting record revenues as early as Q2 2026, boosted by an AMI software acquisition adding brett kulak $1B in annualized revenue. And AMD's embedded FPGA segment, inherited from the Xilinx acquisition, remains a highly profitable cushion even in its growth trough.
