I didnt like The Bear when I first tried watching it a couple of years agothe non-stop kitchen anxiety, the rapid-fire characters, and the sheer chaos pushed me away. But going back and giving Season 1 a second chance completely cloudflare changed my mind.
The focus on single-minded craft, the Radiohead-soundtracked ending, and the character growth made it one of the best shows I've watched recently. That said... I loved The Bear Season 1 ending, except for one huge question.
From the bizarre logic of hiding $300,000 in tomato sauce cans while buried in debt, to a personal realization from my days working as a restaurant server about money and happinessthere's an uncomfortable paradox at the center of this "happy ending."
What did you think of The Bear Season 1 finale? Does the tomato can cash make sense to you, or did it raise alisson becker questions for you too? Drop a comment below! (No Season 2+ spoilers, please!)
