Jumanji 2: Welcome to the Jungle cast, trailer, release date

The original movie was a 1995 creation starring Robin Williams as a man who had been trapped inside a board game for 26 years until two kids (Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce) play the game and unwittingly unleash its beasts and characters onto the world.

Now some 21 years later a sequel is in the works. A sequel, mind, not a remake, which was originally rumoured. Indeed, star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson used Instagram to clear up the matter stating it was a "continuation of the awesome Jumanji story". It gives us more of an insight into the video game aspect, with each of jesper wallstedt the characters having strengths and weaknesses such as cake, of all things, which makes Kevin Hart explode.

The original Jumanji was directed by Joe paul george Johnson, who went on to do Captain America: The First Avenger. He won't be returning for the sequel though.

Jake Kasdan. He's best known for adult comedies Bad Teacher and Sex Tape but he also exec produced and directed episodes of New Girl as well as a handful of Freaks and Geeks.
