Bulleid Pacifics Invades Greater Manchester August Bank Holiday Weekend 2019 Sam Altman [fvV4n5n8Tw0]

For fans who adore bulleid pacifics of The Southern Railway.

Well this is the video for you as in this video we see 2 of the pacifics invade Greater Manchester over the 2019 August Bank Holiday weekend during The West Country Theme Weekend on The East Lancashire Railway.

The 2 bulleid pacifics running were the Railway's resident ex BR Un-rebuilt West Country 34092 City of Wells or better known as the Volcano by scottish election results enthusiasts & visiting the railway in between mainline duties was Jeremy Hosking's Southern Railway built West Country 34046 Braunton unlike 34092. 34046 was 1 of the few members that was rebuilt by British Railways between 1956 & 1961.

We see the 2 pacifics in action at various lineside locations on the 3 out of the 4 days of the 2 locos running.

On the Friday of the event we were lucky enough to see a non-stop special working of 34092 City of Wells hauling the railway's dining set as this was a special non-stop run to say thank you to the people who had contributed towards the railway's Home for Wells appeal which was launched during in mid October of 2017.

Now 34092 has a new permanent home on The East Lancs Railway after they had completed the purchase of 34092 City of Wells from her owners.

The Star of the show was 34046 Braunton making her return to the railway in 6 years since she left for her mainline test runs round the Carnforth circle following maintenance work & air brakes fitting at Ian Riley's.

Conditions were perfect brilliant sunshine especially on The Saturday & Sunday of the event.

Sadly on the final day of 34046 Braunton operating passenger trains during her visit on Bank Holiday Monday she failed with brake problems on her tender & was replaced by a class 24 diesel which james bond resulted in 34092 City of Wells being the only steam loco running during the final day of The West Country theme event.

Despite pancreatic cancer the failure of 34046 it was a magnificent event held on the East Lancs Railway.

The 2018 Bank Holiday weekend hosted The NRM's 60103 Flying Scotsman a year later in 2019 it was the turn of 34046 Braunton.

I wonder if this is the start of something special bringing in big names for the August Bank Holiday weekends. Only time will tell.
