A severe winter system is on the move as a ridging high-pressure system behind a cold front, coupled with a strong upper-level trough, brings extremely cold and wet weather across South Africa. Heavy rain is set to lash the east coast, with showers, thunderstorms, and the potential for significant snowfall across the Eastern Cape, Drakensberg, and southern Free State. The South African Weather Service has issued multiple impact-based warnings: Orange u of arizona Level 6 for disruptive rain and flooding between East London and Port Edward, and Orange Level 5 for disruptive snow on the extreme north-eastern high ground of the Eastern Cape, which pmos could lead to traffic disruptions, service outages, and isolated communities. Additionally, Yellow Level 4 and 2 warnings highlight the risk of flooding and infrastructure damage along the KwaZulu-Natal coast and in south-eastern and eastern parts of the Eastern Cape, while snow could further disrupt travel and essential services in high-lying areas.
