Hurricane Genevieve reached Category 5 strength, becoming the strongest hurricane in the Eastern Pacific since 2024. Record-warm ocean waters and historic El Niño conditions helped fuel Genevieve's rapid intensification. Meanwhile, El Niño continues to strengthen and has reached record levels for this time of year. As a result, the Atlantic is expected to remain quiet, with the exception of a few areas of low pressure that could find a brief window for development between the U.S. East Coast and Bermuda.
