Why SPYM Is Better Than SPY For Many People [3Dml0FlY3M1]
SPY has $648 billion in assets. It is one of the largest ETFs in the world by assets. But SPY and SPYM are both made by State Street. Both track the same 500 stocks. Two things are different. Fee: SPY charges 0.0945% per year. SPYM charges 0.02% per year. On a $50,000 portfolio held for 20 years, that difference could add up to over $4,500. Hypothetical illustration. Not a guarantee of future results. Structure: SPY was built in 1993 using an older legal structure. It holds dividends in cash each quarter instead of reinvesting them. SPYM reinvests dividends right away. Where SPY is structured differently: trading. It has a large options chain (a range of contracts tied to the stock), a narrow bid-ask spread (the gap between the buy and sell price), and high daily trading volume. If you trade options or move large amounts quickly, SPY is built for that. SPYM was previously called SPLG. State Street renamed it in November 2025. 🔗 HELPFUL RESOURCES: Download @Advizmo from the app store: Visit Advizmo.com: Like Advizmo on Facebook: Follow Advizmo on Instagram: Follow Advizmo on Twitter: Connect with Advizmo on LinkedIn: Subscribe on Substack: Follow on Bluesky: Comment "S&P" for the free guide with the full comparison of 7 common S&P funds. #etf #indexinvesting #spy #spym #sp500 #personalfinance #investsmart #beginnerinvesting #advizmo All investing involves risk, including possible loss of principal.
