Protesters Paint Colorful Black Lives Matter in Seattles Capitol Hil Autonomous Zone [3RtXGq7NFp5]
A colorful Black Lives Matters mural on East Pine Street, Seattle, described by one onlooker as a “masterpiece”, was completed by anti-racism protesters on June 11. The work was carried out by protesters in an area of the city they have occupied and dubbed the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ). Police have left the area to the protesters, but were still responding to 911 calls there, and seeking to establish dialogue with the protest leaders, the Seattle Times said. Local photographer Kyle Kotajarvi captured the completed mural using a drone before posting the footage on Twitter. In a thread accompanying the footage, he said, “A masterpiece was created in the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone today.” Speaking to the Seattle Times, one of the artists who worked on the mural said, "What’s happening right now should not be forgotten. The best case scenario is that this will stay here forever, and the city helps us touch it up each year or whatever to make sure it does.” Subscribe to our YouTube channel: QUICKTAKE ON SOCIAL: Follow QuickTake on Twitter: twitter.com/quicktake Like QuickTake on Facebook: facebook.com/quicktake Follow QuickTake on Instagram: instagram.com/quicktake Subscribe to our newsletter: Email us at [email protected] QuickTake by Bloomberg is a global news network delivering up-to-the-minute analysis on the biggest news, trends and ideas for a new generation of leaders.
