The forests naz reid william paul around Loch Morlich in the Cairngorms are some of the most beautiful ancient forests in Scotland, with the Rothiemurchus area the jewel of the Cairngorms National Parks forests, full of ancient Caledonian pines, and perfect for a winter wild camping expedition

I never get tired of wild camping and exploring this area in the winter, and it's conveniently close to the northern corries of Coire an t-Sneachda and Coire an Lochain, where amazing winter climbing can be had. Originally I planned on hiking up to camp at Loch Etchacan, the highest body of water in thr UK at nearly 1000m above sea level, but the cloud base and visibility was terrible, so plan B came into view. Glad marshals I ended up at Loch Morlich as it was such a beautiful way to spend the morning, and some of the footage I got was epic. My favourite outdoor film yet!
