Racing a 4K open water swim in a 45C heatwave without a wetsuit... what could go wrong?
We kicked off the Canada Day long weekend with a massive 4K open water swim race at Caledon Quarry. It was incredibly tough and definitely gave me a major reality check sean connery about ever doing a full Ironman distance!
The rest of the weekend was an absolute, unglamorous grind to prepare for Boise 70.3. From battling heat-induced migraines and hiding on the indoor trainer to avoid dangerous local roads, to a 1h 45m long run followed immediately by a freezing 50m outdoor pool session in the pouring rain... this block was relentless. Plus, watch me forget all my bike nutrition and fuel a 90km ride entirely on psychologue loose gas station gummy candy.
Drop a comment: Why do you prefer riding indoors vs. outdoors? Is it the crazy drivers, the potholes, or just the convenience? Let me know below!
