Oprah Winfrey Is Closing Her South Africa Girls’ Academy in 2027 to Reach More Young Women [yzRbLItVUH4]

JOHANNESBURG – Two more classes of young women will graduate from Oprah Winfrey’s residential academy outside Johannesburg before the gates close for the last time. For every girl after them, the school that changed the lives of more than a thousand South Africans over nearly two decades will exist only as a scholarship. Winfrey announced Wednesday that the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls will end operations at its Henley on Klip campus by the close of 2027. What replaces it is deliberately broader: a scholarship program she says will reach double the number of girls the residential model ever could.
