Femke Bol has now secured a significant lead over her arch-rival, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. Competing in the recently concluded Lausanne Diamond League, Bol ran one of her best races in the 400m hurdles discipline. Breaking her own meet record, the Dutch sprinter ran an impressive 52.25s to clinch the gold right after the Paris Olympics. Such a performance will surely bolster Bols confidence significantly as she is coming from a heartbreaking loss in Paris.

Back in Paris, the rivalry between Bol and McLaughlin-Levrone was supposed to be an exciting prospect. Unfortunately, things didnt turn out as expected for the Dutch sprinter. While Femke Bol recorded 52.15s, it only managed to get her a bronze medal. Sydney McLaughlin Levrone on the other hand, clocked 50.37s to claim the gold medal. Running in the London Diamond League just before the Olympics, Bol created yet another record by clocking 51.30s to beat her previous record set in London.
