District 15 Metro Councilwoman Jennifer Chappell announced the winners of the 56th Annual World Championship Dainty Contest. Mike Brooks was crowned the 2026 World Champion after hitting the Dainty 130 feet, 10 inches to claim this year’s title. Taking home the traditional basket of lemons, awarded to the competitor with the shortest hit, was Cory Travelstead, whose Dainty traveled 2 feet, 8 inches. Part of the Dainty tradition includes an opportunity for players to make a voluntary donation to the Little Sisters of the Poor, a local nonprofit organization. This year’s event raised $1,000, which will help improve the quality of life for the elderly residents served by the organization. The World Championship Dainty Contest is held annually on the last Monday in July. Mark your calendar for next year’s competition on Monday, July 26, 2027.
