Dylan Cease made his second start of the season and first at Guaranteed Rate Field. The 2022 AL Cy Young Award runner up finished the day tossing 5.0 IP with 8 strikeouts, 1 ER and 5 BB. The White Sox got to work early! In the bottom of the 1st, Andrew Vaughn doubled on a line drive to right fielder Michael Conforto, scoring his 5th run of the year. Gavin Sheets singled on a line drive to center fielder Mike Yastrzemski, driving in Andrew Benintendi. The San Francisco Giants cut the lead in half in the 2nd inning as J.D. Davis homered on a fly ball to right field. Andrew Vaughn made a brilliant diving play in the top of the 3rd inning to record the first out of the inning. Tim Anderson was ejected from the ballgame by home plate umpire D. J. Reyburn. The Good Guys added on insurance runs in the 5th inning. Hanser Alberto singled on a line drive to left fielder Blake Sabol, scoring Oscar Colás. Luis Robert Jr. doubled on a line drive to bring home Elvis Andrus. Yoán Moncada added to the lead in the 7th inning. The All-World Baseball Classic Team third baseman recorded an RBI single off Sean Hjelle. Gavin Sheets drove in two more in the same inning! His 2-RBI single scored Luis Robert Jr. and Andrew Benintendi. Elvis Andrus became the 290th player in MLB history to record 2,000 hits! The veteran infielder recorded the hit off San Francisco’s starting pitcher, Logan Webb. The bullpen looked solid with stellar performances from Jake Diekman, Aaron Bummer, Reynaldo López, Jimmy Lambert and Joe Kelly.
