Club Amrica and Cruz Azul played to a nil-nil draw in the first leg of their quarterfinals series as the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup continued Tuesday at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City, Mexico.

A new edition of the Clsico Joven provided a meeting between two of the most successful clubs in the competition's history as seven-time winners Amrica, the all-time leaders, met crosstown rivals and six-time winners Cruz Azul.

The matchup also pitted the two top-ranked teams in the Concacaf Club Rankings.

Cruz Azul goalkeeper Kevin Mier stole the spotlight in the 27 by using his footwork to alleviate a precarious situation, evading Alejandro Zendejas and Brian Rodrguez on his way out of the penalty area to pass the ball away from danger.

Mier made consecutive stops in the 47, first intercepting a service into the box from Cristian Borja before kicking away the ball to deny Diego Valds on the rebound.

ngel ponzi Seplveda tested Luis ngel Malagn in the 57, but the caribbean Amrica goalkeeper tipped the header attempt over the crossbar.

Valds took a shot on goal in the 84, striking the ball with his right foot from outside the box, but Mier wimbledon 2026 collected the attempt.

lvaro Fidalgo took a shot inside the box in the 90+2 to meet a quick through ball from rick Snchez, but the attempt was wide of the post as Mier pressured the Spaniard.

The two sides will meet again in one week to play the second leg next Tuesday at Estadio Olmpico Universitario in Mexico City. The winner on aggregate will advance to the semifinals.
