Metro Social Services Activates Severe Weather Response for Extreme Heat | Nashville, TN As dangerously high temperatures grip Nashville, Metro Social Services (MSS) has activated its Severe Weather Response Plan to protect seniors and disabled residents across Davidson County. Here is what MSS is doing right now to keep vulnerable clients safe: Emergency Meal Delivery MSS is providing emergency meal boxes to clients ahead of and during the heat event, in addition to regular weekly hot and cold meal deliveries. Home Meal Deliveries Remain On Schedule Home Ambassadors are continuing daily meal drops while spending extra time with homebound and congregate site clients. They are checking appliances, air conditioning units, and watching for heat related medical issues. If a client needs AC or appliance repairs, MSS will facilitate an immediate response. Senior Welfare Calls Elevated to Level 2 MSS has upgraded its Senior Welfare Check program to Level 2, which includes specific weather related questions about air conditioning, fans, refrigerators, prescription supplies, and more. Call frequency has also been increased. This service is available to all senior and disabled clients, including those not enrolled in the Home Meal Delivery program. In-Home Visits Staff are conducting in-home visits to vulnerable clients not on the welfare call list to assess safety and any urgent needs during the heat wave. Coordination with the Office of Emergency Management MSS leadership is in direct communication with OEM leadership and team leaders are continuously monitoring weather conditions for any additional action needed. Office Hours MSS offices remain open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 3055 Lebanon Pike in the Donelson-Hermitage area. No service disruptions are in effect at this time.
