In Delhi, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr. Kanika Jain from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital spoke about cervical cancer awareness under the government’s Swasth Nari initiative. She explained that cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women in India. Every year, nearly 80,000 cases and 42,000 deaths are reported from this preventable disease. The Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which spreads through sexual contact, is the main cause of cervical cancer. The quadrivalent HPV vaccine targets four major strains and a single dose can provide 93% to 100% protection.
