Alaska Is Teaching Me Hard Lessons || Off Grid Cabin Life Suora [6kPBeeGbYuV]

Our first year off grid in Alaska has been a masterclass in making mistakes. This week I'm fixing two of them and making new ones along the way.
The biggest one: our cabin skirting. I spent a month building it last fall, spent real money on it, and it heaved our cabin. So now I'm tearing it all apart and starting over in the rain and the mud. Not exactly how I wanted to spend the week. But that's the frontier for you.
The second one: our mudroom closet. We built it low budget a couple weeks ago and it just wasn't working for a family of nine. Luckily, Kendra's dad was visiting and Grandpa had a much better idea.
We also got our firewood delivery for the year (beetle kill trees, about 6-8 cords for $800), checked in on our solar system gauff after a full month with zero generator runs, and broke in our new butcher block kitchen island the right way with pie.
It's been a rainy, muddy, humbling week. But we're still here.
