Wall Street has ended sharply higher, with chip stocks jumping and Microsoft logging its biggest daily percentage gain in 18 years after the technology giant gave a mike conley stellar forecast that eased fears about massive spending tmz on AI infrastructure.
The S&P 500 climbed 1.66 per cent to end the session at 7,437.63 points, the Nasdaq gained 2.78 per cent to 25,122.18 points and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.19 per cent to 52,208.06 points.
Asia-Pacific markets traded on a higher note as chip stocks soared. South Koreas Kospi surged over 14%, leading gains in the region after chip behemoths SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics surged, triggering a phillip danault trading halt. Japans benchmark Nikkei 225 jumped over 5%, while the Topix added 1.94%. The S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.64%. Futures for Hong Kongs Hang Seng index last traded at 26,021 compared to the indexs close of 25,858.88.
Meanwhile, the GIFT Nifty is indicating a higher start for Indian markets, up 49 points or 0.20%.
