2015: Graham praises his sister, Darline [MDHDY7gwYWe]
From 2015: Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) spoke about his relationship with his sister, Darline Graham Nordone, whom President Trump recommended on Friday to fill her late brother's Senate seat. "If she took a role on, she would be a great representative of our country," Sen. Graham told C-SPAN during his 2016 presidential campaign. "I can't think of a better person to represent our country in an event than my sister." Sen. Graham died suddenly on Saturday night at the age of 71 from an aortic dissection, in which a tear occurs in the inner layer of the body's main artery. On Monday, President Trump suggested South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R) appoint Ms. Nordone to serve the remainder of her brother's term, which expires in January 2027. "I recommended, to Governor Henry McMaster, Lindsey Graham's wonderful sister, Darline, to serve as interim Senator from the Great State of South Carolina. This would be a fabulous tribute to Lindsey, who loved her dearly!" the president wrote on social media. Sen. Graham was seeking reelection in November, and Republicans will now hold a special primary on Aug. 11 to choose a new Senate nominee to face Democrat Annie Andrews in the general election. Reps. Nancy Mace (R-SC) and Ralph Norman (R-SC), who both recently lost the Republican gubernatorial primary, have said they are interested in running for the Senate. Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette (R-SC), who earned the president's endorsement in the gubernatorial primary but ultimately lost to state Attorney General Alan Wilson (R), and Rep. William Timmons (R-SC) have also been floated as potential candidates for the six-year term. #lindseygraham #cspan #politics #darlinegraham
