LIVE coverage: the 13 ON YOUR SIDE Weather team is tracking a tornado warning and severe storms moving across West Michigan tonight. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Ottawa County and severe thunderstorm warnings for Allegan, Ottawa and Muskegon counties as a powerful line of storms moves east at 60 mph. The storms are capable of wind gusts up to 70 mph, penny-sized hail and tornadic activity, and could cause tree damage and damage to roofs, mobile homes and outbuildings. A tornado watch is in effect for much of West Michigan into the overnight hours. Communities in the path include Muskegon, Holland, Grand Haven, Walker, Hudsonville, Zeeland, Coopersville, Wayland, Otsego, Plainwell, Whitehall, Montague, Spring Lake and Fennville. The National Weather Service urges residents to take shelter indoors now, stay away from windows and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
