After that, Belgium's varied serves disrupted Japan's serve reception, and the gap gradually narrowed, but at set point, relief server Ran Takahashi scored a service ace to win the first set 25-20.

In the second set, Nishimoto's quick attacks and Belgium's spikes went out, making the score 8-4, prompting Belgium to call a timeout.
